HBO Max is not included with new AT&T Cell Phone plans. Blame inflation?

AT&T Drops HBO Max from phone plans

On Monday, June 6th AT&T rolled out new cell phone plans. The revised plans come with three choices - each includes unlimited data and a allotment of hotspot data  At the time of writing, each of the new AT&T unlimited data plans increment in price 10 dollars on a single line plan.

Here are the new plan names:

• AT&T UNLIMITED PREMIUM℠ PLAN
• AT&T UNLIMITED EXTRA® PLAN
• AT&T UNLIMITED STARTER® PLAN

The Unlimited starter plan is $65 per month with a single line. Unlimited extra is $75 per month. Unlimited Premium is $85 per month. This is a slight, but not significant increase in previous plan pricing. The changes to the AT&T plans are occurring as inflation drives up the prices of goods and services through the entire global economy and impacts every aspect of life in America.

AT&T has removed HBO Max as a benefit from its plans. As a longtime AT&T customer, it's a shame to see HBO Max disappear from the phone plans. In my opinion, HBO Max is the best value in streaming. HBO Max has been replaced by a built-in allotment of mobile hotspot data on all of it's plans. All of the unlimited data plans have a minimum of 3GB of hotspot data. The mobile hotspot must be great for the digital nomads who work remotely. If you do not travel regularly, the value of the mobile hotspot would be limited.

I'm disappointed that HBO Max has been taken away as a benefit in the revised AT&T unlimited data plans. At this moment in time, my HBO Max access has been grandfathered in, but I was forced into a mandatory $6 price increase. I think the mobile hotspot benefit can be useful for some people, but I will not benefit from the new phone plans.
