Aladdin Box Office Tracking - A Possible $100 Million Dollar Weekend

Apparently, Will Smith is bringing the heat to Disney's reboot of the Aladdin IP. I'll be watching Aladdin this weekend. Aladdin made just over $7 Million dollars during the Thursday Night Previews. $7 Million is a good start heading into any weekend - especially Memorial Day... not bad.

I've heard some good things about the film. From what I've come across, Will Smith has brought some of his best work to the screen in a long time. Most of the early backlash of Will Smith's portrayal of Genie seems to have fallen to the wayside. The cast members hit the interview scene saying that the CGI was unfinished. Maybe The Fresh Prince is about to undergo an on camera renaissance.

Many are predicting that Aladdin will make $85 Million dollars, but I think the long weekend will bring out more patrons to the box office than expected. Aladdin is tracking to make more than $100 Million Dollars at the Box Office for the Memorial Day Weekend. Dumbo made $2.6 Million during its Thursday night previews. If Aladdin is able to draw a 2.69 multiplier compared Dumbos Thursday Night previews, Aladdin will earn a $125+ Million Dollar opening weekend.

Disney live action films are hit or miss at the box office. All things considered, Aladdin will earn more than Dumbo. I don't believe a 2.69 multiplier, from a Thursday night preview, will hold through the films run. Aladdin will probably have a 1.8x multiplier against Dumbo. If this prediction holds, Aladdin could earn $210M to $245 Million dollars at the domestic box office.
