Box Office Predictions for Shazam!

The early previews for Shazam have begun and these reviews are stellar. Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, formerly of NBC's Chuck, as the titular character of DCs latest film. At the core, the plot for Shazam is about a teenage boy who can turn in the adult Super Hero Shazam and finding out what powers he actually has.

I think Warner Brothers Pictures, is putting in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to come up with a  new strategy and vision for the DC Comics properties heading into 2020. What makes Shazam! unique is that it's following in the footsteps of Aquaman, a film many critics consider a step in the right direction for DC Comics on film. Warner Brothers made a good choice to use Shazam because this character can be used across multiple age groups and that will bring in extra revenue for the film.

As of this writing, Shazam has a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, a higher Tomatometer score than Captain Marvel and Aquaman. I've seen overwhelmingly positive reviews on social media and this is the start of great word of mouth before Shazam! hits theaters. Here are some short quips I've found that you may be interested in:

I've bought my tickets and Shazam should be a box office hit. Warner Brothers is creating 2020s next hit factory. WB has a great marketing team and I'd bet money this studio wants Shazam! to be a success. I think Shazam has the opportunity to build on the success of Aquaman and the word of mouth will draw moviegoers who would have not seen this movie otherwise. Once it hits theaters, Shazam! only has 3 weeks to make it's money before the film starts losing screens to Avengers: Endgame. Avengers: Endgame is the only new film releasing nationwide during the weekend of April 26th.

My current the opening weekend prediction for Shazam will be $120 Million (give or take about $10 Million). I think the total domestical haul for Shazam should hit $300-$325 Million - this level success depends on how much Avengers: Endgame and Hellboy, cut its legs. Shazam will not crack the Billion dollar mark, but it should earn $775 Million without a problem.
