Insecure - Season 2, Episode 1 - Review

Issa Rae is back with Insecure Season 2. We're thrown into the premiere recapping the anxiety of uncommitted black 20-something professionals. Episode 1 lets you know this season will be a transitional period for each of the characters we knew in Season 1 of Insecure. I'm not single, but

Issa gives an awesome monologue as she preps for a too-lit house party (literally). This dialog distracted with a party before going 1-on-1 with Lawrence. Too bad her original plan fell apart late in the episode. We can all learn about moving navigating through poor situations like Issa, but I speculate that we will find out what Issa's breaking point is soon.

Despite the day dreams Issa often has, Lawrence hits us with something that will leave you thinking "WAIT HE DID THAT?!" You can tell Lawerence is struggling to deal with the past he is ready to let go. I'm honestly surprised Lawerence hit Issa with a "smash and dash." I anticipate that Lawerence won't be in Season 3.

I've seen a lot of hate for Tasha online that I don't understand. What did she do?!? Tasha did flirt with Lawerence a few times before Issa cheated on Lawrence in Season 1, but Lawerence rejected her multiple times until Issa cheated on him. Look here, no one deserves to be cheated on. Issa did Lawerence dirty. Lawerence is just living his life with the best way he can with cards he was dealt with.

You can check out Insecure on Sundays at 9:30 Central on HBO or stream it with Amazon Prime.
