Blogging Ain't Easy

I always said I wanted to blog, but blogging isn't easy. It takes time and an unwavering passion for writing. When I spend my time blogging, I do so to kill time or just get a thought into the world.

Here are three tips for making your blogging experience easier:

  1. Write about topics you are passionate about.
Your blogging experience will be more enjoyable if you are writing about subjects you have an interest in. If you're like me, your interests will change as move into the next seasons of your life. Blogging is a valuable way to grow as an individual and articulate your ideas about the world.

  2. Never give up on a post.
If you run into a situation where you can't get your words out, take a day or so and come finish your idea. Writing consistently takes discipline that doesn't appear overnight. It's okay to walk away and return to an idea. If you're in public and have an idea, take a note on a piece of pen and paper or write an e-mail to yourself with your idea. The greatest thoughts come when we least expect them. I believe that some of the best among us working into the late hours of the night.
  3. Find your niche!
Your blogging experience will be much better if you focus on a specific topic. When you have a series of topics that you blog about, you're able to improve your writing skills and build a brand that people care about. Niche building is key to establishing a successful blog. When you give people a reason to come back to your blog as a tastemaker or opinionist you've established yourself as an authority within the niches you blog about.
