Anderson provides a 360 degree concert experience.
Earlier this week, I had a friend ask me if I was hip to Anderson .Paak to which I responded with an enthusiastic "Yes!" He asked me what he should listen to if he wanted to dive into the music without much prior knowledge and I provided a few suggestions. I figured it would be helpful to some folks if I made a short write up on Breezy Lovejoy, now known as Anderson .Paak. Right now Anderson .Paak is the hottest artist in one of the biggest sounds you can hear in mainstream R&B.

He originally started creating and performing music under the name Breezy Lovejoy back in 2012. While I'm not too familiar with the in's and outs of the earliest parts of .Paak's budding career, this music can still be readily found on the Breezy Lovejoy Soundcloud & Bandcamp. These cuts are just a glimpse into the work we hear from Anderson today. The track below show how far Anderson's sound has come in the last couple of years.

Following a string of releases as Breezy Lovejoy, Anderson dropped his first EP, Cover Art - a collection of cover songs that pays homage to black artists who had their work taken by white artists without credit or compensation. .Paak performs six covers total and my favorite of them all is Seven Nation Army which puts a new spin on the classic White Stripes song.

.Paak went on to sign a deal with Aftermath Entertainment and was featured several times on Compton - the soundtrack for "Straight Outta Compton." .Paak holds his own on tracks alongside Dr. Dre, Jill Scott and others for a total of six features across the soundtrack. My favorite .Paak track from Compton is Animals. You can check out Compton on Apple Music.

Stay tuned for Part 2.
