How to Connect Bluetooth Headphones to Windows Computer

Using Bluetooth Headphones on Windows Computers

Introduction

Connecting Bluetooth headphones to a Windows computer has never been easier. There are some common issues with Bluetooth headphones. This guide will provide details on how to connect your Bluetooth headphones to a Windows computer, troubleshooting your wireless Bluetooth settings on Windows, and one recommendation for Bluetooth headphones.

How to Connect Bluetooth Headphones

There are three major steps to connecting Bluetooth audio devices to windows computers. First, open settings, click devices and click "Add Bluetooth or Other devices". Then, turn on pairing mode on the headphones that are being connected to the computer. Finally, on your computer, click "Bluetooth" and select the device you are connecting to your computer. When you've successfully connected, the paired headphones will appear in the "Bluetooth & other devices" menu. This information was sourced from Microsoft documentation.

Troubleshooting Bluetooth Headphones

When there are connection issues between the Bluetooth headphones and your windows computer there are few solutions to resolving the Bluetooth errors. In my experience, the troubleshooting steps have worked well for me. Your computer could have a unique setup, these troubleshooting steps support Windows 10 users.

If the Bluetooth headphones do not connect to your computer automatically - you can manually connect the device. In the Bluetooth devices window, click the device and select "Connect". Your headphones will connect to the computer. The next solution is to disconnect your headphones from your computer - select the device you want to fix and click "disconnect". Reconnect your device with the instructions listed above.

If there is no audio from the headphones, open the start menu and search "Sound Settings" and open the window. There are two drop down menus "output device" and "input device" - in each of these menus, select the audio device you want to send music or video calls to. Important Note: If there is no audio from the headphones, always make sure they are completely charged and when connecting to a computer with Bluetooth.

When you've tried all of the above and the issues continue, reset the headphones completely using instructions provided by the manufacturer. Having a blank slate to connect headphones to the computer is the best way to make sure the headphones connect successfully. Please note that most windows computers do not have strong support for audio devices that are used with multiple computers, phones or tablets. I recommend you buy a pair of headphones strictly for your computer. Having one pair of headphones for a windows computer will reduce the headaches and disconnects you could experience in the long term.

Best Bluetooth Headphones

My SoundCore Life Headphones
My personal recommendation for Bluetooth headphones on windows computers is the SoundCore Life Q20. These SoundCore headphones are noise cancelling. I bought them for under $50. SoundCore has a comparable sound quality to my Beats Solo 3 Wireless Headphones. The SoundCore headphones have a great depth in bass, similar to my Beats headphone made by Apple. These are officially considered "budget" headphones at their price point, but I think they are high quality. The SoundCore brand of products is owned by Anker. Anker is reputable and has an amazing line of chargers that I've used with my personal phones and I've gifted these away before too. Anker and Soundcore have great customer service and many of their products come with extended warranties.
