The Pro-Wrestling Boom of 2020

I'm cleaning out my drafts and found this old post from 2019.

I'm posting it, because so much has changed since August of 2019. We went through a pandemic. In 2020, every major wrestling company began producing content on a closed set. WrestleMania 36 was broadcast from the performance center over 2 days. CM Punk returned to pro-wrestling in 2021. Cody Rhodes left AEW for WWE in 2022. Streaming has not had a large impact on professional wrestling, but there are some promotions like Game Change Wrestling that do decent PPV buy numbers. Ric Flair is reporting going to unretire for one (possibly more) match. WWE is going to have a stadium show in Europe. I have not updated the below for spelling and grammar.

I think we're on the verge of wrestling being a big deal once again. I'm not sure if it will be 90's huge, but it's in the middle of a boom that hasn't plateaued. There are a few things contributing to this:

Streaming

The proliferation of streaming services across different promotions, Network, Impact Plusm, FITE TV, Facebook, and Youtube. It's easier than ever to find professional wrestling content, whereever you are. TNT stepping back into the mix as a major player has an opportunity to bring lapsed fans back into the product and reach many people who aren't aware that there are alternatives to WWE available.

Merchandise

Rise of pro-wrestling tees & bullet club merchandise. The shirts had crossover appeal & with that Kenny, Bucks, Cody, have risen in fame.
